Privacy policy: Phaser Print
Last updated: 26 October 2026
This policy describes how the Android app Phaser Print (package ru.usharik.phaserprint, “the App”) handles information. The App is published by Aleksei Usharovskii (Alex Usharovski), a sole trader in the Czech Republic, IČO 17943744, registered office Netovice 47, 274 01 Slaný, who is the controller of the data described here. Write to me at aleks.usharik@gmail.com.
The App is an unofficial printing utility and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Xerox Corporation.
The short version
- Documents you print are processed on your phone and sent only to the printer you choose. They are never uploaded to me, to Google or anywhere else.
- No account and no registration. Saved printers and settings stay on your device.
- The App shows a banner ad from Google AdMob and, before a print job of more than 8 sheets, offers a full-screen ad as an alternative to buying ad removal. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it first asks for your consent through Google’s consent form.
- Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics from Google tell me how the App is used and why it fails.
- The optional purchase that removes ads is handled by Google Play; I never see your payment details.
- I do not sell personal data and do not run any server of my own.
1. Documents and printing
When you pick a PDF, image or plain-text file with the Android system document picker, the App reads only that file to draw a preview and to prepare the print job. When you print from another app through the Android print menu and choose Phaser Print, Android hands the App the document that app prepared; the App keeps it in a temporary file until the job ends and then deletes it.
The App sends the print data only to the printer you selected, over your local Wi-Fi network (JetDirect, TCP port 9100). Older printers do not encrypt this connection, so print confidential documents only on a network you trust. Document contents, document names and printer network addresses are never sent to advertising, analytics or crash reporting services.
2. Data stored on your device
The App keeps in its private storage on your device: the printers you added (the name they announce on the network, their local IP address and port), the printer selected for printing, the interface language, and whether ads were removed. This data is not sent to me. If Android backup is turned on in your device settings, it may be included in your Google backup. You can delete a printer in the App, and you can remove everything by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling it.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob) and your consent
The App shows a banner ad from Google AdMob at the bottom of the screen. Before a print job of more than 8 sheets it asks you to support the developer: either buy ad removal or watch a full-screen ad, after which printing starts. When an ad is requested or shown, Google and its partners may process your device’s advertising ID, IP address and the approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and your interactions with the ad, under the Google advertising policies and the Google Privacy Policy.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the App uses Google’s User Messaging Platform, a consent management platform certified under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. Before any ad is requested it asks whether Google and its partners may use your data for personalised ads and the other listed purposes. You can accept, decline or choose purposes one by one; if you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads. To change your choice, open Settings → Ad privacy settings in the App. Your choice is stored on your device.
Everywhere you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in Android settings (Privacy → Ads). After you buy ad removal, the App requests no more ads.
4. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics
- Firebase Analytics receives an app-instance identifier, device model, OS version, the approximate country derived from your IP address, and events about using the App: automatic events such as the first launch and sessions, and my own events: the screen you open (printing or settings), printer actions (found, added, selected, deleted), the start and completion of a print job with its size (the number of document pages, paper sheets and copies, and whether it is a PDF, an image, a text file or the test page), the steps of the ad removal purchase, a full-screen ad being shown, and the kind of operation that failed, including the category of a failed print (for example, the printer refused the connection or timed out) and the name of the error type.
- Firebase Crashlytics receives crash and error reports: the stack trace, device model, OS version, app version and an installation identifier, plus the operation that failed and the name and model of the printer involved (for example “Xerox Phaser 3020”), which helps me support more printers.
I use this data only to understand how the App is used, to improve it and to fix bugs. Google processes it for me under the Firebase Data Processing Terms. The data is linked to an identifier of your installation, not to your name; reinstalling the App or clearing its data gives it a new identifier.
5. Google Play
The App is distributed through Google Play. The one-time purchase that removes ads goes through Google Play Billing: Google handles the payment, and the App receives only the list of its own purchases (product, state and a purchase token) to turn ads off and confirm the purchase. The App checks this list each time you return to it, so the purchase comes back after a reinstall and is withdrawn after a refund. Google Play may collect information about installs, updates and app performance under the Google Privacy Policy.
6. Permissions
- Internet, network state and Wi-Fi state: to find printers on your network, send print jobs, and for ads, consent, analytics, crash reports and purchases.
- Google Play billing: for the ad removal purchase.
- Advertising ID: added by the AdMob SDK, see section 3.
The App does not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone or photos, and has no general access to your files: it reads only the documents you pick or send to print.
7. Legal bases, retention and deletion
Printing your documents is the service you ask for. Personalised ads in the regions listed in section 3 rely on your consent. Analytics, crash reports and non-personalised ads rely on my legitimate interest in keeping a free app working, improving it and paying for its development. Google keeps analytics data according to the retention setting of the App’s Firebase project and starts deleting crash reports 90 days after they are collected. Data on your device stays until you delete it in the App, clear the App’s data or uninstall it. For anything you cannot delete yourself, write to me.
8. Children
The App is a printing utility for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the App, write to me and I will help remove it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. Write to me and I will answer within the period required by law. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority; in the Czech Republic it is the Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.gov.cz).
10. Changes
I may update this policy when the App or the law changes. The current version is always on this page; the date at the top shows the latest revision.
